Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) conducts research of the highest quality. As one of the top African medical and health sciences research institutions, the faculty has been at the forefront of ground-breaking health sciences research. Our scientists are well recognised at the South African Medical Research Council's (SAMRC)
Scientific Merit Awards. In recent years, our researchers have experienced unprecedented success with the acquisition of external grants. Decades of diligent and persistent effort in the field of biomedical research have catapulted our faculty and its
Biomedical Research Institute (BMRI) onto the world stage. We perform as a leading research-rich environment with extensive collaborations across the globe, in addition to national and continental partnerships.
The FMHS is home to more than a hundred National Research Foundation (NRF)-rated researchers and several South African Research Chair Initiative (SARChI) research chairs; over and above our academic departments, centres, bureaus, and institutes. More than 90 Master's and PhD-level programmes are on offer.
Research activities and outputs of the FMHS have grown significantly over time. Our researchers make their mark in the most respected international journals. A testimony to our proud research tradition is the annual faculty output of hundreds of refereed scientific articles and papers delivered in South Africa and abroad. More than 80 master's and 50 doctoral candidates who graduate from our faculty each year constitute a robust cohort of biomedical researchers. A research agenda shaped by strategic research focus areas ensures that our research activities address the major health challenges facing the African continent and the world.
Our faculty aims to continue our contribution to the discovery, sharing and translation of knowledge that will promote health and development; and to develop future biomedical researchers who are engaged citizens and thought leaders.?
