ABOUT TYGERBERG CAMPUS
Students at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences enjoy a comprehensive student-centred support system in addition to excellent tuition in well-equipped facilities. Over the past six decades, the FMHS has grown into an institution renowned for producing excellent healthcare professionals and innovative research.
The faculty is situated at Tygerberg Campus – which is located in Cape Town’s northern suburbs approximately 30 kilometres from the university’s Stellenbosch Campus and 20 kilometres from the centre of Cape Town. Staff and students enjoy views of the scenic Tygerberg Nature Reserve and the iconic Table Mountain.
The campus, which is adjacent to Tygerberg Academic Hospital, boasts the following excellent facilities:
- Modern classroom centres;
- A brand new medicine and health sciences library;
- A new simulation and clinical skills unit;
- A computer centre;
- Six student residences;
- International student and visitor accommodation;
- A student leisure centre and cafeteria;

A VIBRANT STUDENT COMMUNITY
The FMHS fosters a people-centred institutional culture that advances personal development, health and wellness, diversity, inclusivity, equality and other human rights. We offer a variety of support and development functions related to students such as residence and community support functions, psycho-social support and student development functions. More than 30 student societies serves the students' diverse social, cultural and religious interests.
The Centre for Student Communities (CSC) at Tygerberg Campus provides living and learning experience to the students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The centre is further responsible for managing the cluster, which is an integration of residence and non-residence (commuter) students. The Cluster (integration of residence and commuter students) consist of student leadership structures in a form of conveners, prims, house committees and mentors who play a significant role in the integration and support of students throughout the year. The CSC at the Tygerberg campus further facilitates the development and welfare of students through various programmes in line with the 中国体育彩票 vision such as:
