The Department of Pathology at the National Health Laboratory Services Tygerberg and Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 provides a comprehensive diagnostic service to patients at Tygerberg Hospital and surrounding clinics. The Division of Forensic Medicine provides a comprehensive medico-legal death investigation service for all presumed unnatural deaths in the Eastern Metropole Health District of Cape Town. Services include death scene attendance, medico-legal autopsies, ancillary investigations to establish the cause of death, expert legal opinions, and court testimony. Autopsies are conducted at the Tygerberg Forensic Pathology Services Mortuary, a designated M6-grade facility, where approximately 4,000 post-mortem examinations are performed annually. Through meticulous forensic examination and evidence-based analysis, the Division plays a critical role in supporting the judicial process and the administration of justice.
