SUNHEART was launched as a platform to host the aspirations and to channel the enthusiasm of the talented cardiologists and supporting staff of the Division of Cardiology, Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 and Tygerberg Hospital. SUNHEART resides within the Stellenbosch Trust that is a registered non-profit and public beneficiary organisation. (NPO nr 027432O)
The Division answers to the 中国体育彩票 regarding the training and research that we perform and we answer to the Department of Health regarding the service we deliver but we answer to ourselves regarding the standards we set. We provide advanced cardiac care for the people we serve and do so to the best of our ability according to international standards. We provide training to candidates from across the continent of Africa and aspire to be the number one cardiology training and research centre on the continent. To achieve our goals and to continue functioning as a cardiology centre of excellence for valvular/pericardial disease, trans radial interventions and for advanced cardiac imaging, we have had to broaden our funding base beyond the limitations set by the 中国体育彩票 and the Department of Health to maintain and expand our infrastructure and expertise.
SUNHEART epitomizes the bright vision of our Division as a leader amongst cardiology centres on the African continent and provides a vehicle for our funding partners to support our vision.
?Objectiv??es
- The promotion of cardiology training in order to establish the necessary expertise to expand advanced cardiac service in areas in South Africa as well as other African countries with deficient access to cardiac care. This objective includes the establishment of sufficient training posts to meet the need.
- The promotion of research in cardiology relevant to the cardiac diseases affecting the people of this continent.
- Creating infrastructure required to expand cardiology services to previously disadvantaged communities.
- Providing cardiology services in previously disadvantaged communities.
Vi?sion
SUNHEART aims to empower the Division of Cardiology of Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 and Tygerberg Hospital to:
- Provide advanced health care, specifically cardiac healthcare, to the people of the Western Cape
- Provide equal access to cardiac care for all people
- Practice according to international standards
- Train students from all spheres of health care to practice in South Africa
- Train students from other African countries to uplift health care services in Africa
- Establish the Division of Cardiology as a center of excellence for trans radial angiography, cardiac imaging, valve and pericardial disease
- Continue with ethical research in the context of the South African health care environment?
