Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology boasts a proud history of pioneering gynaecological endoscopy in South Africa. The current endoscopy interest group has built on the work of these pioneers and the MAGS program is a culmination of these efforts in creating the first Tertiary Level Endoscopic Fellowship in South Africa exiting with a Masters Degree in Minimal Access Surgery. The premise behind this concept is the rapidly evolving international concept of an Endoscopic Pelvic Surgeon. Our Unit prides itself not only on structured surgical training but more importantly on critically appraising the literature and applying it to daily practice. This ensures optimal patient assessment and care.
