Tygerberg Doctoral Office
The Tygerberg Doctoral Office powers PhD research in the 
   Matie Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences 
   
      - from proposal development through to graduation day. 
   
      
        Our campus is situated in the picturesque Tygerberg area of Cape Town, South Africa. The FMHS counts 
   among the top 150 medical and health sciences schools in the world, and the top four ?in Africa. The Tygerberg Doctoral Office fulfils the secretariate function of the FMHS Committee for Postgraduate Research; facilitates the SU Pre-Doctoral Short Course in Medicine and Health Sciences; administers the examination of full research (100%) masters theses as a key route into the PhD; and supplies comprehensive support to all stakeholders in PhD studies. The 2-week SU Pre-Doctoral Short Course in Medicine and Health Sciences is offered annually, in person. Selection is competitive and numbers are capp?ed. The course is next planned for ?18 to 29? May 2026. Enquire to Dr Chanelle Windvogel at

tyg-thesis@sun.ac.za. Send a single email with the approved thesis, the Turnitin report, a signed release form, and if relevant, the programme rubric.?
Doctoral examinations receive priority attention from Ms Tamarra Adriaanse via our dedicated doctoral examination mailbox at 
      medphd@sun.ac.za?. Detailed information is also available on the requirements for finalising the dissertation.
