Silene is a Commuter Student Community (CSC) within the broader Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 community. The majority of its members are female and female-identifying students who commute or live in private accommodation.

Founded in 2008, Silene is one of the four female-led CSCs on campus, forming part of the S.A.V.E group alongside Aristea, Venustia, and Equité.????

Silene aims to create a sense of belonging for newcomers, making them feel at home within Silene and the broader Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 campus. The community focuses on its core values, ensuring they resonate with the experiences of commuter students, especially those living in private accommodation on and around campus.

The mission of Silene is to utilize available resources to orient, support, and build lasting relationships with newcomers, ensuring that every member feels integrated and supported as they transition into university life.

Silene's mentor program supports newcomers, including first-year and transfer students, by pairing them with experienced members in their second year or above. Each newcomer is assigned a mentor for their first year at Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票. The program follows the university's mentor framework, offering mentors the opportunity to apply for official accreditation at the end of their term. The mentor team consists of dedicated Silene members, committed to making the transition into university life as smooth and enjoyable as possible.??
