The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) aims to be the leading research-intensive Economic and Management Science faculty in Africa, known for our excellent graduates.
As the largest faculty on campus with around 9000 students, we occupy numerous buildings on the main (Stellenbosch) campus, while the postgraduate programmes of the Stellenbosch Business School and a few of that of the School of Public Leadership (SPL) are offered at the Bellville Park Campus.
Our training for professional registration in specialist fields such as Accounting, Actuarial Science and Financial Planning enjoys national and international accreditation by professional institutes and our students' performance in external examinations is proof of the quality of our programmes.
In a similar vein our programmes in Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management are acknowledged by professional bodies. In other disciplines, excellent quality of tuition is ensured by cooperation agreements; these cover matters such as the exchange of students and teaching staff, and joint research projects with internationally recognised academic institutions.
The Faculty vigorously pursues research excellence and capacity development. And we are therefore very proud of our NRF-rated researchers and the Research Chairs hosted by the Faculty.
Most postgraduate students study at the School of Public Leadership, the Stellenbosch Business School and the School of Accountancy. The Stellenbosch Business School was the first school from an African university to acquire all three international accreditations for business schools, namely AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
