Writing for Change
?????????
One of Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 (SU)'s aspirations towards achieving Vision 2040 is a transformed and integrated academic community that celebrates critical thinking, promotes debate and is committed to democracy, human rights and social justice with an outward, international and future focus. In this spirit, the SU Transformation Office, the SU Equality Unit and the Writing Lab have come together to pilot a writing programme to equip interested students with writing skills so as to absorb them into a pool of young public commentators.
The aim is to equip these aspiring writers with skills that will allow them to write from the student perspective on issues around transformation and social justice; issues including but not limited to gender, identity, race, our democracy, the economy, issues of disability and access, etc. This initiative is also intended to bring to the fore a student voice that is currently missing in our public debate and engagement on our campus and on current affairs as they relate to the work of the Transformation Office and the higher education landscape in particular and society in general. ?
