The Three Shorts Courses are:
Essential Theology for Ministry
It covers a compact overview or four theological themes: Old and New Testament, Christian Faith, the History of the Christian Church, and the Present Challenges and Opportunities for the Church in SA.
The aim and objectives of course
The aim of the course is to give veteran/newcomer/beginner pastors and other persons in different ministries, an overview of the basic theological knowledge they need for a responsible ministry. For some pastors who could only do a Bible School course it would be a kind of finishing course to prepare them for ministry. For other persons in different ministries within the church, FBO's & NGO'S within communities with ambitions to do a theological degree it would be a preparatory course to see whether university study is for them or not.
The delivery method(s); - contact, blended/or online
We will be using a blended form of learning. We will get the students in for a 3-to-4-hour contact session for each of the four parts of the course. After that, we will communicate with them online – by online contact sessions and by way of lectures with PowerPoint and Voice recordings
Foundations of Technological and Academic Competencies
It covers an introduction of the technological and academic skills that will be essential to succeed in an academic setting
The course will consist of three parts or shorter modules:
· Computer literacy
· Reading and Writing skills
· Time Management
The aim and objectives of course
The aim of the course is to enable prospective students to function optimally in an academic setting where technological and academic literacy are essential tools to study towards a degree in theology. It also aims to provide the most basic computer, reading and writing skills to pastors in a technological advanced ministerial context to communicate with the congregants through technology
