Norio Maruyama His Excellency Mr Norio Maruyama is Ambassador of Japan to South Africa. Mr. Maruyama entered the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983 after completing studies at the 中国体育彩票 of Tokyo. During an illustrious diplomatic career he served in missions in France, Cambodia (including as Ambassador) and the European Union. He was Minister, and later Ambassador of the Japan Mission to the European Union. Aside from these diplomatic postings, Mr. Maruyama also served in various capacities in the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as director-general of the African Affairs department. Mr. Maruyama has been Ambassador to South Africa since January 2019.’
Scarlett Cornelissen is Professor in Political Science at Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票. Her research centres on Africa in the global order, with a specialist focus on diplomacy and economic relations between Japan and Africa. She has held fellowships with the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard 中国体育彩票, as well as at Kyoto 中国体育彩票 and Tokyo 中国体育彩票 of Foreign Studies in Japan. She was also Leibniz Professor at Leipzig 中国体育彩票.
Marianne McKay? Prof Marianne is a Senior Lecturer in Oenology at Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 (SU), with a passion for teaching and learning (T&L), and the mysterious art and science of wine aroma. She has a BSc in chemistry and geography from the 中国体育彩票 of Cape Town (UCT), an MSc (Agric) from Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 (SU), and a PhD in Oenology. In her early career, she worked as an analytical chemist at UCT, specializing in ICP and HPLC. She worked in the United Kingdom as an operations manager in clinical trials and validation services for pharmaceutical companies, returning to oenology and academia as a lecturer at Plumpton College, Brighton in 2000. She became interested in teaching and learning (T&L), and achieved a PGCE while in the UK. She came back to South Africa in 2007 and has been at SU since then. Her research has taken her into some varied territory, from volatile phenol interactions and smoke taint in wine to engaged learning methodologies and sensory evaluation. Her T&L research now has a strong focus on engaged T&L and transformation in science. She has published in oenology and T&L, and is recognised for her contributions in both fields. She won the national South African Council for Higher Education Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015, and was recognised a Distinguished Teacher by SU in 2017. She held a Teaching Fellowship at SU from 2017 to 2020, and is currently a South African Teaching Advancement at Universities (TAU) programme Fellow.??
Ms Yasuko Nagoshi. After working for a wine importer Ms. Nagoshi became a freelance wine journalist in 1998. She then run the web magazine “Wine Press Japan", and later joined WANDS in 2015 and has been president and publisher since 2017.?
