From the N2
- From the N2, take the Baden Powell off-ramp and turn left towards Stellenbosch.
- Follow Baden Powell past a set of robots, past Spier (on your right), and past Van Rhyn Brandy Distillers until you get to the next set of robots.
- Turn right at these robots.
- You are now on the R310/ Adam Tas Road.
- Follow Adam Tas Road, around a bend, and turn right at the next set of robots.
- You are now in Dorp Street.
- Go straight across the first set of big robots in Dorp Street.
- Drive past Melissa's (on your left) and BP garage (on your right) until you get to a traffic circle. Here, you turn right.
- You are now in Piet Retief Street.
- Follow Piet Retief Street past Noordwal Street (to your left), across a bridge over the river until you get to another traffic circle. Paul Roos Gimnasium is on your left.
- Turn left at this circle, into Suidwal Street (which is not signposted, but runs parallel to Dorp Street).
- You now have the river on your left and Paul Roos highschool on your right.
- Once you have passed the school and its dormitories, you will pass vineyards and a sign saying "Stellenbosch equestrian society" and a sign for the "Proefplaas".
- Drive slowly now, Welgevallen is just after the vineyards, just before the wine cellar, but the sign post and pedestrian gate are small and partially obscured by the hedge.
- Just past our pedestrian entrance (on your right hand side) is a large sign (also on the right hand side) for "Welgevallen wine cellar/sales". You are too far when you get to another circle, and not there yet when you see vineyards.
- You may park in the sports grounds car park, on the right hand side a little further beyond Welgevallen wine cellar, or make use of the street parking a little before Welgevallen Community Psychology Clinic. ?
From the N1
- From the N1, take the Klipheuwel/Stellenbosch off-ramp, and turn right towards Stellenbosch (R304).
- Follow the R304, past the robot at the Bottelary and Koelenhof intersection, and past Kayamandi (on your right).
- After Kayamandi's robot, you will have to pass 3 robots. This road now becomes Bird Street.
- Go through two traffic circles along Bird Street.
- Turn right at the mini traffic circle at the end of Bird Street, and then immediately to your left.
- You are now in Piet Retief Street.
