The Central Disciplinary Committee (CDC) on 01 July 2025 via Microsoft Teams, considered allegations that on 20 April 2025:

The implicated student altered their answer script for the relevant module in order to obtain additional marks and handed it in for remark. It is alleged that the implicated student:

  • Altered their Accounting 388 A1S1 answer script to obtain an additional half mark (0.5) of a mark out of 100. In doing so, the implicated student altered their original answer of R232 000 to R206 000 by scribbling over the original amount several times.

The misconduct is in contravention of rules 9.8, 10.1 and 10.2 of the Disciplinary Code for Students of Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 (“the Code”).

The student entered a guilty plea. This plea was supported by the evidence provided by the student during the oral proceedings. The implicated student was found guilty of altering their answer script in order to obtain additional marks by the CDC. The student contravened the relevant sections in Disciplinary Code for Students of Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票.

The CDC panel imposed the following sanctions:

  1. The student forfeits the mark for the test (A1S1) of the relevant module.
  2. The student receives a suspended suspension of six (6) months on condition that they are not found guilty of similar misconduct for the remainder of their studies at Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票.
  3. The student must submit a written apology to theN lecturer within seven (7) days of receipt of these written reasons.
  4. The sanction must be published on the Faculty Notice Board with the student’s name redacted.

What is the focus of this course?

This practical short course aims to develop your ability to –

  • recognise the format and content of the IELTS exam by discussing, practising and analysing each section of the exam;
  • improve your test-taking skills and strategies by completing IELTS-style practise tests in reading, listening, speaking and writing;
  • perform optimally within an academic context, to enter your chosen academic programmes; and
  • recognise the scoring procedure for the exam, so that you may interpret your own test scores.

By the end of the short course, you will be able to –

  • skim and scan academic and authentic texts for general and specific information;
  • extract information from and make references based on texts of varying lengths, such as university lectures, radio documentaries and radio interviews and conversations;
  • interpret and compare data in tables and graphs;
  • develop arguments and express opinions on abstract topics;
  • provide information in a formal interview context; and
  • expand academic vocabulary related to common topics such as the environment science and technology, health, energy, transport, education, the arts and media.

What are the prerequisites?

  • You need a minimum B2/Upper-Intermediate English language proficiency level
  • You may need to complete an online English placement test before the start of the short course
  • If you do not have the desired level for entry to the short course, we will make recommendations on how to improve your English so that you may be admitted at a later stage

 When and how will the short course take place?

The IELTS Test Preparation short course is presented online during 2-hour sessions, twice a week over 5 to 6 weeks, with 25 hours in total.

Short courses open before the first contact or online session and close well after the last session. This allows you enough time to access SUNOnline, the learning platform we use.

What is required from you to be awarded a certificate of attendance?

  • Attend and participate actively during all the contact and/or live online sessions
  • Submit assignments, if any, by the due date
  • Less than 10% absence (without a valid reason)

What is the cost?

The course fee is R4 396 per participant.

  • All fees are payable before the short course starts
  • We will present a course only if the required minimum candidates have paid and confirmed attendance
  • Short course participants do not receive access to 中国体育彩票 facilities such as computer labs or the library
