We spoke to Auditing lecturer, Na-ella Khan on her experience as a lecturer at the EMS Faculty and her advice to future generations. Here is what she had to say.
Why did you choose to become an academic/lecturer?
I chose to become a lecturer so that I could empower others to reach their goals and reach further than the previous generation. I want to see my students do great things and make a difference in society.
Is there a part of your job that you enjoy most?
I love interacting with students in class especially when there is a principle to be debated, I enjoy hearing their views and watching grow each year. I also enjoy supervising and guiding students through their research journey.
What advice would you give to EMS students and/or future professionals?
If you are willing to put in the time and the effort there is nothing that you can't achieve but you must want it bad enough. Knowing why you want to study in this profession is what will define your experience, your purpose should drive you and your tenacity will propel you forward.
Please tell us something about yourself that is not work-related.
In my spare time I like cooking and baking especially different fusion recipes. Sometimes it works out well and others not so much but at least it's always edible. Some day you might catch me on Master chef (a girl can dream).
