SU's Africa Platform is coordinated by SU International's Centre for Collaboration in Africa (CCA). The CCA's mandate is to create an enabling environment to develop and nurture relationships between SU and its partner institutions elsewhere on the continent. This is done through bilateral agreements, research networks focusing on thematic areas, student and staff mobility, and programme development support.

If you need further information on the CCA's work or would like to discuss building or extending your African network, please contact us. We stand ready to assist. ?

???????????????Partner with SU

Partnerships.jpg??SU International, and specifically its working group for partnership development, are responsible for preparing memorandums of understanding and other cooperation agreements between Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 and higher education or related institutions abroad.

Agreements may be established to formalise cooperation in fields such as:

  • undergraduate and postgraduate student exchanges;
  • staff exchanges/sabbaticals;?
  • summer school student participation or exchanges;
  • joint research projects;
  • establishing new programmes;
  • exchange of information and publications;
  • conferences and workshops;
  • access to scientific and analytical facilities; and
  • joint or double degree programmes.

If you are contemplating initiating a staff exchange, consider:

  • who will be the host department/faculty;
  • what costs will be covered by the host (housing, stipend, flights);
  • what costs will be covered by the home institution (housing, stipend, flights);
  • whether there will be any research costs involved; and
  • whether any external funding will be received.

For those wanting to initiate a student exchange, consider:

  • the issue of tuition waivers, which are granted centrally for institutional student exchanges, or by the faculty for department/faculty-level student exchanges;
  • whether this will involve a travel grant application, keeping in mind that preference is given to students in institutional exchanges;
  • whether the conditions of the envisaged exchange agreement will be conducive to two-way mobility;
  • that all incoming exchange students to SU are required to pay the exchange administrative fee (EAF), which includes the international registration fee (IRF) and a service fee; and
  • whether there is any external funding available.
?For partnerships on the African continent, please contact the Centre for Collaboration in Africa .

??????????????????????Centres and Institutes ??

CentresWeb.jpg

Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票's vision of becoming Africa's leading research-intensive university with a global impact is underlined by its strong desire to advance African scholarship and the sharing of knowledge and expertise on the continent.

There are numerous Centres and Institutes at SU with a specific focus on activities in other African Countries, and here, we highlight just two such centres.

First,is the Centre for Capacity Development in Africa? (CCDA).?The CCDA aims to contribute to the development of the African continent and its people by developing new and emerging scholars in Africa. It does this by connecting scholars globally and creating opportunities for research and Higher Education teaching and learning development.

The African Doctoral Academy, provides high-level training and support to current and prospective doctoral students across Africa, as well as accredited training to doctoral supervisors.  Each year, the ADA offers courses and workshops in theory, research methodology and scholarship. It also offers courses to academic staff on supervision, the management of postgraduate studies and research management.

The ACS also accommodates the Southern African Systems Analysis Centre (SASAC), a joint initiative with three other South African universities that aims to strengthen systems analysis capacity in South Africa.

Secondly, the Institute for Futures Research?? (IFR) focuses on developing and advancing excellence in Africa requires good planning and thinking about the future. The IFR is a research institution uniquely positioned to assist decision-makers and strategic planners in initiating and managing medium to long-term change. Futures thinking is inextricably linked to strategic planning and strategic management and can therefore assist to illuminate the ways in which policy, strategies and actions can promote desirable futures and help prevent those we consider undesirable.

???SU's IFR's African Futures delivers the most recent thinking on the possible and desirable futures of the African continent and is, therefore, an inextricable part of Africa's path to success.
